COASTAL POOL CONSTRUCTION & LANDSCAPING BRONTE, NSW
Trade Constructions, a Sydney residential builder and pool builder, completed the swimming pool, landscaping, drainage and external construction works for this new home in Bronte, combining travertine paving, engineered concrete works, frameless glass pool fencing and contemporary coastal landscaping.
Trade Constructions delivered the complete swimming pool construction, landscaping, drainage and external works package for this new home in Bronte, in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs.
The works included construction of the swimming pool, engineered pool surrounds, travertine paving, coloured concrete paving and driveway works, concrete blinding slabs, engineered front fence footings, rendered masonry boundary walls, powder-coated aluminium fencing and automatic gates, frameless glass pool fencing, surface drainage, subsoil drainage, stainless steel heel guard drains, tile insert drains, garden landscaping, turf and epoxy garage flooring.
External surfaces were carefully graded to move water away from the building, with approximately 1:50 falls through the first metre from the home and approximately 1:100 falls thereafter towards nominated drainage points.
The completed project combines technically considered pool construction and water management with a refined coastal aesthetic suited to Bronte’s beachside location.

POOL CONSTRUCTION, DRAINAGE & WATERPROOFING
Trade Constructions completed the swimming pool construction together with the surrounding landscaping and external works, allowing the pool structure, paving, drainage and outdoor living areas to be coordinated as one integrated construction package.
The swimming pool and associated structural works were completed in accordance with the project engineering requirements, with particular attention given to the interfaces between the pool structure, external paving, boundary works, ground levels and drainage.
Surface water management formed an important part of the construction methodology. External finishes adjacent to the building were formed with approximately 1:50 falls through the first metre away from the home. Beyond this area, surfaces were generally graded at approximately 1:100 towards nominated drainage points to promote positive drainage and minimise the potential for ponding.
Dedicated surface drainage was incorporated throughout the external areas, including stainless steel heel guard drains and tile insert drains positioned to integrate discreetly with the finished paving.
Subsoil drainage was also installed where required to manage groundwater and subsurface moisture before it could adversely affect the paving, landscape construction or adjoining building elements.
Concrete blinding layers were constructed beneath paved areas to provide a stable substrate, reduce the potential for settlement, movement and cracking, limit unwanted growth through paving joints and improve moisture management beneath the finished surfaces.
Around the swimming pool, a hydro epoxy waterproofing system with broadcast sand was applied over the prepared screed before tiling. This provided a waterproof barrier between the substrate and finished paving, helped reduce moisture migration and the potential for efflorescence, and provided a suitably keyed surface for installation of the travertine finishes.
Moisture testing and substrate preparation were undertaken before installation of the final finishes as part of Trade Constructions’ quality-control process.
CONTEMPORARY COASTAL POOL & OUTDOOR LIVING
The finished Bronte landscape uses a restrained palette of natural travertine, white rendered masonry, charcoal powder-coated aluminium, frameless glass and contemporary planting to create a clean coastal character appropriate to Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs.
Travertine tiles extend around the swimming pool, external steps and adjoining entertaining areas, providing a warm natural finish against the clear pool water and light architecture of the home.
Frameless glass pool fencing maintains an open visual connection between the swimming pool and covered alfresco area while maintaining the required separation around the pool enclosure. Stainless steel drainage systems and tile insert drains were incorporated discreetly within the surrounding paving to maintain the clean architectural appearance.
Trade Constructions also completed the front boundary construction, including engineered concrete footings, masonry walls, rendered and painted finishes, powder-coated aluminium fence panels and an automatic driveway gate.
Coloured concrete was used for selected driveway and pathway areas, while structured planting, turf, stone edging, stepping pads and decorative pebbles soften the hard landscaping and create a low-maintenance contemporary garden.
The garage was finished with an epoxy flooring system, extending the coordinated external works package through to the functional areas of the home.
The completed pool and landscaping provide a relaxed, resort-style outdoor environment that complements both the architecture of the new home and the coastal character of Bronte.
